Present Continuous/Progressive tense- Presente Continuo: Es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para expresar acciones que tienen lugar en el presente, en el mismo momento en el que se está enunciando la frase. El Present Continuous se forma con el presente del verbo (to) be (am, is, are) más el verbo de la acción en gerundio (Infinitivo+-ing).
Ej.: John is washing the dishes right now. (John está lavando los platos ahora mismo).
Forma negativa del Present Continuous/Progressive: Sujeto+am-is/are+not+verbo de la acción en gerundio+ Complementos.
Ej: John is not/isn't washing the dishes right now.
Forma interrogativa del Present Continuous/Progressive: Is/are+ Sujeto+ Verbo de la acción en gerundio+ Complementos?
Note: Cuando se escribe el sujeto, no utilizamos la primer persona.
Past Continuous/Progressive Tense- Pasado continuo: Es un tiempo verbal en el que se expresan acciones que tuvieron lugar en el pasado, pero en un momento concreto. Este tiempo verbal se forma con el pasado del verbo (to) be (was o were)+ el verbo de la acción en gerundio (infinitivo+-ing).
Ej: John was washing the dishes at eight o'clock last night. (John estaba lavando los platos a las ocho ayer por la noche).
Forma negativa del Past Continous/Progressive: Sujeto+ Was not o wasn't/were not o weren't+ Verbo de la acción en gerundio+ Complementos.
Ej.: John was not/wasn't washing the dishes at eight o'clock last night.
Forma interrogativa del Past Continuous/Progressive: Was/were+Sujeto+Verbo de la acción en gerundio+ Complementos?.
Ej.: Was John washing the dishes at eight o'clock last night?
Future Continuos/Progressive Tense. Futuro continuo: Esta estructura se utiliza para referirse a hechos o actividades futuras que ya han sido decididas o acordadas previamente. No conlleva ningún énfasis o intención particular, sino que se refiere simplemente a hechos o actividades que acontecerán con toda probabilidad
En esta estructura, se utiliza el auxiliar will para todas las personas y va seguido del infinitivo del verbo be más un verbo de acción terminado en –ing. Observa estos ejemplos:
I will be lying on the beach tomorrow. (Estaré descansando en la playa mañana)
We will be arriving at 5.30. (Estaremos llegando a las 17.30)
Marcela will be meeting us there. (Marcela nos estará esperando allí)
En el habla informal cotidiana, la contracción del verbo auxiliar will es 'll:
I'll be lying on the beach tomorrow. (Estaré descansando en la playa mañana)
We'll be arriving at 5.30. (Estaremos llegando a las 17.30)
Marcela'll be meeting us there. (Marcela nos estará esperando allí)
La forma negativa se obtiene colocando la partícula not después del auxiliar will, es decir will not y la contracción de will not es won't.
Silvia will not (= won't) be studying tomorrow. (Silvia no estudiará mañana)
La forma interrogativa se obtiene invirtiendo el orden del sujeto y del auxiliar will:
Will you be coming tonight? (¿Vendrás esta noche?)
How long will you be staying? (¿Cuánto tiempo te quedarás?)

3) Para hacer referencia a actividades que se desarrollarán durante un período de tiempo en el futuro.
We will be flying at a height of 30,000 feet. (Volaremos a 30.000 pies de altura)
We will be staying for three weeks. (Nos quedaremos durante tres semanas)
This time next week, I'll be lying on the beach.
(A esta hora la semana entrante estaré descansando en la playa)
Al sugerir que la actividad futura ya ha sido acordada, la estructura WILL BE + ING VERB constituye una útil manera de preguntar por los planes de alguien. Observa estos dos mini-diálogos:
- How long will you be staying? (¿Cuánto tiempo te quedarás?)
- Just one night. (Sólo una noche)
- Will you be staying at home all afternoon? (¿Estarás en casa toda la tarde?)
- Sure!! (Claro!!)
- OK. I'll phone you at 3.30. (De acuerdo. Te llamo a las 15.30)
Asimismo, la estructura WILL BE + ING VERB se emplea cuando es necesario que la pregunta sea cortés porque la persona que habla está por pedir un favor:
- Will you be using your new digital camera? (¿Usarás tu cámara digital?)
- No. I don't believe so. (No, creo que no)
- Could I borrow it? (¿Podría pedírtela prestada?)
